“Law” is in our name “Bonnie Lawston” for a reason — we are your best choice.
Have you lost a loved one who lived in New York or had assets in New York but you live outside of New York?
We can help you serve the estate and maximize your inheritance taking advantage of our expertise, avoiding pitfalls that estates fall into and taking advantage of all the tax laws and the applications of the tax laws to maximize the estate.
Is the estate cash poor but property rich?
Are you the executor but you have no money to hire an attorney for the Estate and you must? We have many different types of retainers available depending on your needs and the Estate. One retainer that is very popular with clients especially in times like these when no one has extra money but need to hire an attorney is the “legal deferred retainer.” The legal deferred retainer”, is a type of retainer that our office offers to clients who are inheriting or is the named executor or administrator, and you do not pay us any legal fees. The legal fees will be paid by the estate or from your inheritance upon collection of the estate assets and/or prior to distribution. Thus, we are paid generally towards the end of the estate. There is no money out of your pocket
Are you concerned about how the executor or administrator is handling the Estate and trust, if applicable?
We can ensure that we protect all your rights to maximize the inheritance and share of the estate and safeguard against any negligence or fraud by the fiduciary that affects the estate and your pocket. We know what to look for, the hidden expenses that are not appropriate and fraudulent conduct and take the appropriate steps to stop it and remove that person. There are many stages of the Estate and at each stage, we will take the appropriate action to scrutinize the actions of others and ensure that you are receiving your full inheritance.
Did your loved one die without a Will?
  • We know how to search for the Will and the databases and institutions to research for same.
  • We can also prepare the necessary papers to have you appointed as the representative of the estate, temporarily or permanently, locate the Will, and other estate documents including assets.
  • We will safe guard and protect the estate assets if you are in New York or live outside of New York.
  • We will take the necessary steps to secure all the assets.
For example we work with individuals and have staff members that can and will go out and evaluate a house and secure it, get it ready for sale, move estate items to a secure location and sell the assets. You do not need to be here for us to do that for you and the Estate. We can also review the estate assets and liabilities, what the fiduciary has done and maximize your inheritance.
Do you need a Will? Living Will? Trust? Health Care proxy? and some estate planning advise?

We can certainly assist you:

We will provide you with all the information necessary for you to make the appropriate decisions and take the appropriate actions to ensure that your wishes are carried out and with the least amount of cost to you and your estate thus maximizing your loved one’s inheritance. We will apply all the tax laws to each situation and provide that information to you. Home consultations are available.
